Equal pay is an aspect of sex discrimination law and has been in force for over 30 years. It gives the right to men and women to be paid the same for the same or equivalent work. Where men and women are paid at different rates for the same, or similar, work, the employer must prove that there is a reason for it which is not gender-related.
For example, one common misconception is that equal pay law always gives a right to people of the same gender to be paid equally for the same work. There are many circumstances where this is not the case.
We will help you to conduct an equal pay audit and we will guide and support you through any equal pay claim or grievance. This includes assisting you to complete The Equal Pay Questionnaire (Employment Act 2002) and attendance at a tribunal if applicable.
